Health Care: Sustainable Insurance Rates and General Costs
General health care costs and insurance rates are rising unsustainably. This creates an undo financial burden and prevents many people from getting health care. Join this campaign to rein in current health care costs and urge political decision makers to create a sustainable system for the future.

The average American's health care costs are:
  • Rising at an unsustainable inflation/wage adjusted rate of 6.7% per year.
  • $7439 per year, nearly twice the amount spent by other industrialized nations.
  • Expected to increase 67% (or $4984) increase in the next 10 years.
The American health care system:
  • 46 million people or 15% of the population is uninsured.
  • Twice as much is spent as other industrialized nations with universal health care, yet those nations provide health care to all of their citizens.
  • 31% is spent on administrative costs.
Potential consequences of doing nothing:
  • More and more of people's income will be spent of health care preventing them from spending money on a host of other needs.
  • Less and less people will be able to afford coverage.
  • Tax increases to cover the rising cost of Medicare/Medicaid.
Potential benefits of taking action:
  • Many people will get financial relief from this escalating cost.
  • More people will be able to afford health care coverage.
  • More money available to be spent in other areas of the economy.
