FAQ
How are you actually going to create change?
The primary way is through creating a 'critical mass' of people that want action on these issues. This group represents the real power in terms of votes and in terms of money.
How does this work in practical terms?
See the How this Works section [read more]
Do you think this is going to work?
We do think this is going to work, but it we also realize that true success is based solely on your participation reaching a critical mass/tipping point. The main purpose of this site is to give power to your voice as you speak in harmony with millions like you who want basic issues to be solved. In other words, the success of solving issues is this way depends on your participation and action. But keep in mind, this is likely to take time. Please be patient and persistent in your efforts.
How is CooperativeAction.org different than other organizations/websites such as GrassFire.org or MoveOn.org?
There are a few significant distinctions between CooperativeAction.org and other organizations using a similar model:
  • We are nonpartisan. We do not support or advocate for any particular political party, but rather we have identified certain issues that most people want solved. The issues on this site undergo a rigorous screening process [read more] before we include them.
  • We work on a broad range of commonly agreed upon issues. Many other organizations work on issues related to a partisan agenda.
  • We do not advocate for exactly how the issues should be solved, but rather we believe that politicians of different political persuasions should have healthy, productive debate to come to a workable solution.
  • We work hard to communicate respectfully and compassionately [read more] while still conveying our message strongly and clearly. Many other organizations utilize a higher (or much higher) degree of sensationalized, disrespectful, one sided communication. We think that debate on any issue is important, but we strongly believe that debate should be done in a respectful, productive way. We think the best chance of being heard and to move your message forward is to communicate in this way.
Why should I participate in CooperativeAction.org when there are other organizations working on similar issues?
  • We allow you to make a big impact with a small time commitment. We are a 'one stop shop' or 'clearinghouse' on a variety of commonly agreed upon issues.
  • We show you clear status of the issues: actions taken by us and a variety of organizations, whether changes are occurring.
  • When applicable, we attempt to partner with other organizations that work on similar issues to increase our overall impact on these issues.
How does CooperativeAction.org determine what is a 'commonly agreed upon issue'? Isn't that determination a matter of opinion?
Issues on this site undergo a rigorous screening process [read more] . Most of this process is quantifiable. However, we do make some come subjective judgments based on our definition of common sense and if the issue at hand has benefit for the greater good [read more].
Are you going to bug me all the time with emails?
That is up to you. The minimum amount of email you will receive is one per year. If you want, you can set your email preferences to receive more.
Are you going to bug me all the time for money?
No. Our model is to keep costs as low as possible and rely solely on donations initiated by you. If you like what we do and want to support our mission financially, please do. But most importantly, we want you to participate.
